‘Sometimes, trying to be more ethical can seem like a huge mountain to climb. But, we’re all about the small changes you can make, and the more of us that make them, the smaller that mountain becomes.’

  • Buy a reusable water bottle, preferably an aluminium one though if it’s plastic make sure it’s BPA free. Swell make a huge range of pretty bottles. If you’re a coffee drinker, invest in a reusable coffee cup - PRET are now offering a 50p discount on hot drinks if you bring in a reusable cup.

  • Prep your lunches on a Sunday to take to work during the week. You can reduce so much plastic waste by bringing your own food from home, from the packaging and bag it comes in, to the knife, fork, and napkin.

  • Air dry your clothes - line dry if you’re lucky enough to have a garden. Tumble dryers are one of the biggest users of energy.

  • Switch cotton for linen. Whether tableware or bedding, linen lasts longer (in fact improves with age), and requires less water to produce.

  • You saw the photos of the fatberg. Switch your make-up wipes or face pads for crochet cotton pads or muslin cloths which you can throw in the wash and reuse. Women if you’re menstruating, invest in a Organicup as an alternative to tampons or sanitary towels.
